Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 July 2026

Stories Alive is built for teachers and schools. This policy explains how we collect, use, protect and share personal information when you visit our website, join the waitlist, contact us, or use the Stories Alive platform.

1. Who we are

Stories Alive is operated by [insert legal entity name] ([insert ABN/ACN if applicable]) in Australia. In this policy, "Stories Alive", "we", "us" and "our" refer to that operator.

Contact us about privacy at hello@storiesalive.com.

2. Personal information we collect

Depending on how you use Stories Alive, we may collect:

  • contact details, such as your name, email address, school, role and message content;
  • account details, such as login details, profile settings and school information;
  • content you submit, such as prompts, uploaded teaching materials, images, lyrics, lesson topics and generated classroom resources;
  • limited student-related information if a teacher or school includes it in prompts, uploads or generated materials;
  • usage and device information, such as log data, approximate location from IP address, browser, device, pages viewed and feature usage;
  • support and feedback information you send us; and
  • billing and plan information if paid plans are introduced.

3. Children and student information

Stories Alive is intended for teachers, school staff and other adults. Children should not create their own accounts unless we later release a school-approved student experience with appropriate safeguards.

Teachers and schools are responsible for deciding what student information is appropriate to enter into Stories Alive. We ask users not to upload sensitive student information unless it is necessary for the educational purpose and permitted by their school policies and applicable law.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • provide, secure and improve Stories Alive;
  • create and store teacher-requested resources, such as storybooks, songs, worksheets, lessons and videos;
  • manage accounts, waitlist requests, contact messages and support;
  • monitor usage, quotas, cost controls, reliability and abuse prevention;
  • send product, launch and service communications where permitted;
  • meet legal, safety and compliance obligations; and
  • develop and improve our product, including evaluating quality and performance.

5. AI providers and generated content

Stories Alive uses third-party AI and infrastructure providers to generate text, images, audio and video. When you ask us to generate content, the prompt, relevant uploaded materials and related metadata may be sent to those providers so they can process the request.

We do not knowingly sell student personal information. We will configure providers and internal processes to limit use of classroom content to providing, securing and improving the service, subject to each provider's technical and contractual controls.

6. When we share information

We may share information with:

  • hosting, database, storage, analytics, email, support and security providers;
  • AI generation providers needed to complete teacher-requested outputs;
  • schools or account administrators where an account is managed by a school;
  • professional advisers, insurers or regulators where necessary; and
  • other parties where required by law, to protect safety, or with your consent.

7. Overseas disclosure

Some providers may process or store information outside Australia. Where Australian privacy law applies, we take reasonable steps to use providers with appropriate privacy, security and contractual safeguards.

8. Security and retention

We use technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No internet service is perfectly secure, so users should avoid submitting information that is not needed for the educational task.

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain backups. We will delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed, where practical and lawful.

9. Access, correction and deletion

You can ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you. We may need to verify your identity and may refuse a request where the law allows or requires us to do so.

10. Cookies and analytics

We may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, understand website usage and improve the product. You can control some cookies through your browser settings, although disabling them may affect the service.

11. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, contact us at hello@storiesalive.com. We will aim to respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Stories Alive evolves. The latest version will be posted on this page with the updated date.

Launch note: before public launch, replace bracketed placeholders with the final legal entity, ABN/ACN and contact details, and have this policy reviewed by an Australian privacy/legal adviser.
