Terms of Use
Last updated: 8 July 2026
These Terms apply when you visit our website, join the waitlist, contact us, or use the Stories Alive platform. They are written for teachers and schools using AI to create classroom resources.
1. Who these Terms are with
Stories Alive is operated by [insert legal entity name] ([insert ABN/ACN if applicable]) in Australia. In these Terms, "Stories Alive", "we", "us" and "our" refer to that operator.
Contact us at hello@storiesalive.com.
2. Who may use Stories Alive
Stories Alive is intended for teachers, school staff, education professionals and other adults. You must be at least 18 years old, or have authority from your school or organisation, to create an account or use the platform on behalf of a school.
Students and children should not create their own accounts unless we later release a school-approved student experience with additional safeguards.
3. Your responsibilities as an educator
You are responsible for reviewing all generated materials before using them with students. AI-generated content can be inaccurate, incomplete, biased or inappropriate for a particular class, age group, curriculum or student need.
You must use your professional judgement and comply with your school policies, curriculum requirements, copyright obligations, child-safety obligations and privacy obligations.
4. Accounts and security
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
5. Content you provide
You retain any rights you have in prompts, uploads, teaching materials, images, lyrics, student work and other content you submit to Stories Alive.
You give us permission to host, copy, process, transmit, display and adapt that content as needed to provide, secure and improve Stories Alive, including sending relevant content to third-party AI and infrastructure providers so they can complete your requests.
You must only upload content you are allowed to use. Do not upload confidential, sensitive or identifying student information unless it is necessary, permitted by your school and lawful.
6. Generated materials
Subject to these Terms and any plan limits, you may use generated materials for your own classroom, school and teaching purposes. This includes downloading, printing and sharing resources with your students, families and colleagues for educational use.
AI-generated materials may resemble other content, may contain errors, and may not be unique. We do not guarantee that generated materials are suitable for every purpose or free from third-party rights issues. You are responsible for checking materials before use or publication.
7. Acceptable use
You must not use Stories Alive to:
- create unlawful, harmful, abusive, sexual, exploitative, discriminatory or harassing content;
- generate content that targets, identifies or humiliates a child or student;
- upload content you do not have permission to use;
- attempt to bypass safety, quota, rate-limit or access controls;
- reverse engineer, scrape, overload or interfere with the service;
- submit malware, automated abuse, spam or deceptive content; or
- use Stories Alive in a way that breaches law, school policy or another person's rights.
8. Plans, quotas and availability
Stories Alive may use quotas, rate limits, queueing, cost controls and provider limits to keep the service reliable. Some features may be unavailable, delayed or changed during beta and launch periods.
If paid plans are introduced, pricing, inclusions, renewals, cancellations and refunds will be explained at the point of purchase.
9. Third-party services
Stories Alive relies on third-party providers for hosting, storage, authentication, AI generation, analytics, email and related services. Their systems may affect feature availability, speed and output quality.
10. Intellectual property
We own or license the Stories Alive platform, brand, website, software, design, workflows and underlying technology. Except as allowed by law or these Terms, you must not copy, modify, resell or create a competing service from the platform.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
12. Suspending access
We may suspend or restrict access if we reasonably believe an account is being misused, creates safety or security risk, breaches these Terms, or threatens service reliability.
13. Consumer guarantees and liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.
To the extent permitted by law, Stories Alive is provided on an "as available" basis during launch and beta periods. We are not responsible for indirect loss, lost profits, lost data, lost opportunity, or decisions made from unreviewed AI-generated content.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Stories Alive evolves. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [insert Australian state or territory]. The courts of that place will have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
Launch note: before public launch, replace bracketed placeholders with the final legal entity, ABN/ACN, governing state or territory and any paid-plan terms, and have these Terms reviewed by an Australian legal adviser.
